London Climate Action Week underway amid UK heatwave, global talks
London, June 22, 2026 — London Climate Action Week underway, bringing together government, finance, and civil society leaders to discuss ways to accelerate climate investment and support countries facing rising climate risks.
The nine-day event, running from June 20 to 28, features more than 750 events across the city and is expected to draw tens of thousands of participants, including policymakers, business leaders, investors, environmental campaigners, and civil society groups.
Organisers say the annual forum has become a key fixture in the global climate calendar, providing a platform for advancing climate action between United Nations climate summits and strengthening cooperation ahead of future international negotiations.
The opening day includes the flagship Climate Innovation Forum at London’s Guildhall, where discussions focus on accelerating investment in clean energy, climate resilience, sustainable finance, and emerging technologies.
This year’s gathering comes as Britain faces an early-summer heatwave, with forecasters warning that temperatures could approach or exceed previous June records in parts of the country. Climate scientists say such extreme weather events are becoming more frequent and severe as global temperatures continue to rise.
Finance is expected to dominate many discussions during the week, with investors and policymakers examining ways to mobilise greater funding for climate mitigation and adaptation projects, particularly in developing countries that are disproportionately affected by climate change.
Hosted by climate think tank E3G, London Climate Action Week has grown rapidly since its launch in 2019 and is now regarded as Europe’s largest city-wide climate event. The forum aims to translate climate commitments into practical action through partnerships among governments, businesses, and communities.
